Ideas, Ideas, Ideas. Where Do They Come From?

If you’ve come here looking for ideas, you’ve come to the wromg place!

Ah no, jokes.

Sometimes we’re absolutely blasted with ideas and can’t contain ourselves. Other times, we hit a complete blank and have no idea where to go next.

When it comes to your wedding invitations, and figuring out what style you love or what feels right for you and your partner, we think it can actually be useful to stop looking at wedding invitations altogether.

Because once you start looking at invitations, it’s very easy to get swayed by trends and what everyone else is doing.

Instead, look at the things you already love.

Fashion. Art. Music. Film. Interiors. Books. Nature.

Maybe there’s an artist whose work you've always loved. Their colours, shapes, textures or the way they put things together could become the starting point for your invitations.

Bridget Riley (B. 1931)

Maybe it's fashion. Look at your favourite designer — Miu Miu, Versace, whoever tickles your fancy. What is it about their work that you love? Is it the colour? The materials? The way something folds, twists or falls? Maybe it's a particular collection or season that has caught your eye.

'VERSACE VEILED DRESS, EL MIRAGE' - HERB RITTS, 1990

And there it is.

A colour palette. A texture. A shape. A feeling.

Suddenly, you're onto something.

The point is, don't stress about finding the perfect wedding invitation. Look at the things you naturally gravitate towards and lean into them.

Have a rummage through old books, magazines, photographs, albums or saved images. Look at things you've collected over the years. Sometimes inspiration is sitting right in front of you — you just need to look at it differently.

There’s a whole world of inspiration out there waiting to be your next little flash of genius.

So go looking.

Get curious. Get weird. Mix things up.

And let's make some invitation art.
